Woodside is Officially ‘Outstanding’

Ofsted Inspectors have declared Woodside High School in Haringey to be an ‘Outstanding’ school. Since the introduction of the tougher new inspection framework, only a handful of shools have achieved this rating.

The report states that: “Students make outstanding progress” and “leave as confident, all-rounded individuals, with high aspirations.” It praises Woodside’s emphasis on high expectations, noting that “The school provides its students with a very safe environment where the business of the day for everyone is ‘work hard and aim high’.” and adds that “Students behaviour is outstanding both in the classroom and around the school.”

Ofsted comments positively on the outstanding teaching and curriculum saying: “The rich and innovative curriculum serves the needs of all groups of students extremely well.” The report goes on to say that “Students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development is excellent and they act according to a clear set of moral values”

In addition, Ofsted praises the leadership and staff: “There is strong and decisive leadership which provides outstanding role models and sets the highest of expectations for all within the school.”

Headteacher, Mrs Joan McVittie, said: “To have our school recognised as ‘outstanding’ is fantastic and a testament to the dedication and skills of our exceptional team and the support of our governors and families. We are determined to build on the successes achieved to date and to continue to drive up our students’ achievements within a positive, challenging and supportive environment.”
